The sample, so you know what to expect
Five goals worth $50,200. By September 30, $24,450 is saved (48.7%). The holiday fund is reached, the vacation and home funds are on track, and the emergency fund is behind after an $800 car repair. Keeping every goal on schedule takes $1,875.86 a month.
Who it's for
A good fit if you
- Save for a few things at once and want a money goal tracker that keeps them apart.
- Want to know, every month, whether you are ahead or behind, not just how much you have.
- Like a savings tracker printable to color in, with a file that does the math.
Not for you if you
- Want a full budget with your spending. The Personal Finance Excel Template covers budget, net worth and goals together.
- Want the file to read your bank balance. It does not connect to any account.
How it works
- Open the file. It comes filled with five sample goals and nine months of deposits.
- Check the sample. Open Sample check and see every row show ✓.
- Set your goals. Replace the sample goals with yours, then add a row each time you move money in or out.
Questions
Does it work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. You get an Excel file (.xlsx), a Google Sheets version and the printable PDF.
How does it decide if I am on track?
It draws a straight line from what you had at the start to the target on the target date, and compares what you have saved by the "as of" date with where that line says you should be.
Can I keep all my goals in one savings account?
Yes. The file keeps track of how much of the balance belongs to each goal, so one account can hold several.
What if I take money out of a goal?
Add a Withdrawal row. The goal's balance goes down and the monthly amount needed goes up.
Does it include interest?
The Calculator can use a yearly savings rate. The Goals sheet tracks only what you put in and take out, so it matches what you actually moved.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If the template does not work for you, email [email protected] within 30 days of buying and you get your money back. See the refund policy.
