The sample, so you know what to expect
One person with $4,200 take-home pay, January to June. June spending comes to $3,964.07 against a $3,733 plan, dining out is $74.30 over, and the month ends $154.07 short. Over six months, $3,600 went to savings.

A good fit if you
- Want printable budget sheets you can fill in by hand, with a version that does the adding for you.
- Budget by paycheck and want to see what each one has to cover.
- Prefer typing one total per line over logging every receipt.
Not for you if you
- Want to log every purchase and see it add up by category. Use the Google Sheets Budget Template or the Expense Tracker Spreadsheet.
- Want a separate tab for each month with its own spending log. The Monthly Budget Excel Template does that.
How it works
- Print or open. Use the PDF pages with a pen, or the workbook on your computer or phone.
- Plan once. Write a planned amount for each line. At the end of the month, fill in the actual totals.
- Check the gap. Planned against actual shows where the money went. In the workbook, check the sample first: every row in Sample check shows ✓.
Questions
What size do the pages print?
US Letter (8.5 × 11 in). They also print on A4 with "fit to page" turned on.
Can I change the categories?
Yes. In the workbook every line name can be changed. The nine groups stay, so the totals keep working.
Is savings counted as spending?
No. Savings has its own group, so money you put aside is not counted as spent and "left over" stays right.
Does it work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. You get an Excel file (.xlsx), a Google Sheets version and the PDF.
How is this different from your other budget templates?
The other budget files keep a log of every transaction. These worksheets do not: you type or write one total per line, like a paper budget form.
