Debt Payoff Tracker
Record every payment and each month's balance, and watch the total you owe shrink with progress bars for each debt.
What's inside
One workbook, in Excel + Google Sheets. A debt tracker for the months after you make a plan, when you want to see real progress:
- Start here: four steps and what the colors mean.
- Dashboard: what you owe now, how much you have paid off and what share of the starting total that is, total payments logged and how many debts are gone, with charts of your balance month by month and progress on each debt.
- Debts: up to 10 debts with type, starting balance, start date, interest rate and minimum payment.
- Payments: one row per payment, with a drop-down for the debt. Room for 1,000 payments.
- Balances: a monthly check-in. Type each debt's balance from your statement, for up to 24 months.
- Progress: each debt's starting and latest balance, amount and percentage paid off, a progress bar, and a "Paid off" mark when it reaches zero.
- Sample check: four sample debts and ten months of check-ins, with the answers worked out separately. Every row shows ✓ when the formulas are right.

How it works

- Check the sample. Open Sample check and see every row show ✓.
- Type in your own. Replace the sample debts, then once a month log your payments and type in each statement balance.
Questions
Does it work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. You get an Excel file (.xlsx) and a Google Sheets version, so you can update it on your phone in the Sheets app.
Why do I type the balance instead of the file working it out?
Because your statement is the truth. Interest, fees and the exact day you pay all change the balance a little. Typing it from the statement keeps the tracker honest.
How many debts and months can it track?
Up to 10 debts, 24 monthly check-ins and 1,000 payments.
Does it show my debt-free date?
No. This file tracks what has happened. For a payoff plan with dates, use the Debt Snowball Spreadsheet or the Debt Payoff Spreadsheet alongside it.
Can I use it for a mortgage or student loans?
Yes. Any debt with a balance works: credit cards, car loans, student loans, medical bills, personal loans or a mortgage.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If the template does not work for you, email [email protected] within 30 days of buying and you get your money back. See the refund policy.
